The story behind the opening

The Cityhotel Bocholt opened in May 2018. It was created by completely renovating the traditional “Katteker” building, which was gutted and renovated from top to bottom over a period of 13 months. This shows that the hotel is housed in a historic building that has been extensively modernized for its new use.

Two years after opening, Marta Gorazdza took over the management of the hotel in 2020 and brought a breath of fresh air to the gastronomic offering. Her commitment resulted in the creation of “Marta’s Restaurant” and an inviting beer garden on the ground floor, which successfully opened in September 2020.

In December 2024, Zeljko Jagodic, a renowned restaurateur with many years of experience, took over the Cityhotel Bocholt and the adjoining restaurant. Jagodic, who already successfully runs the traditional and highly esteemed hotel restaurant Doppeladler in Haldern, will reopen the restaurant under the new name “Riva Mediteran” on January 1, 2025. Guests can expect sophisticated Mediterranean cuisine that brings a fresh accent to the region’s culinary landscape.

Modernization for greater comfort

The hotel has been continuously modernized and optimized:

  • All rooms have a minibar and a coffee machine.
  • The technical facilities have been improved, including a new booking system and the option of digital check-in around the clock.
  • The hotel offers standard box spring beds, air conditioning, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi in all rooms.
